Brenna Miller is currently a PhD student in musicology at The Ohio State University. Her current project, titled “Sounding and Performing Jewish Cultural Community in Wartime Shanghai,” explores how the newly arrived European refugees (1938) developed and maintained cultural (Jewish and European) identities and artistic institutions and how this community interacted with other diasporic groups in the city immediately before, during, and after World War II.

Brenna has held fellowships with the US Holocaust Memorial Museum (USHMM), the Joint Distribution Committee, and the Melton Center for Jewish Studies at Ohio State University. This work has also been supported by the OSU East Asian Studies Center, the OSU School of Music, and the Ohio State Center for the Study of Religion.
